A Month of Challenges

"You know that in a race all the runners run,
but only one gets the prize.
So run to win!
All those who compete in the games
use self-control so they can win a crown.
That crown is an earthly thing
that lasts only a short time,
but our crown will never be destroyed.
So I do not run without a goal..."
1 Corinthians 9:24-26

Today, November 1, 2013, I accept the challenges thrown down before me - body, spirit, and soul...
Body - I’ve seen many postings on Facebook about a plank challenge…and several who are doing it! So, today, I began with a 30-second plank. In the days ahead, I intend to increase that time, plus add some additional exercises to it.

Spirit – Last Sunday, I challenged my Facebook followers to daily read the Psalms and Proverbs—reading the chapters based upon the date on the calendar. Today, I read Psalms 1, 31, 61, 91, and 121 plus Proverbs 1.

Soul – Writers across the nation, around the world, have accepted the NaNoWriMo challenge or National Novel Writing Month. Instead of the novel writing, I’ve decided to do things: (1) Write a devotional-a-day with the intent of publication, and (2) blog each day, similar to the April A to Z blog challenge.

In order to accomplish any of these I first defined them—what you see above.

Next, I “scheduled” them! I put them on my calendar. I made them a priority in my life. In reality, doing all three will take a good chunk of my mornings.

And lastly, I told somebody—YOU!! I need you to hold me accountable, to pray for me to stay on schedule, and to cheer for me with your words of encouragement.

(Just so you know; day one is complete!)
