Dirt, Dust-mites and Determination

I write this piece—hours after “D-day” began—with determination.

My body is achy, my brain is disoriented; I feel like I’m coming down with a cold. It might just be muscle ache from the work I’ve been doing plus a severe case of allergies from the dirt and dust-mites I’m stirring up.

I’ve accomplished much this week without any help. A box of my oldest son’s school papers slowed me down a bit as it gave me pause and required more attention, but organized piles of somewhat related items ready to be packed are growing. The dumpster is being filled.  Items for the Salvation Army are headed to my car. Phone calls and Facebook pleas for help have been made…with at least two solid responses. I see light at the end of the tunnel.

“We give great honor to those who endure under suffering. For instance, you know about Job, a man of great endurance. You can see how the Lord was kind to him at the end, for the Lord is full of tenderness and mercy. James 5:11 (nlt)

I may not be enduring the sufferings of Job this week, but defeat, doubt, and discouragement have crept as my body and mind are weakened.

My husband will return this Saturday.

The moving truck arrives on Thursday.

I’m determined to be ready.

(This is all the energy and words I can muster today – time for Ibuprofen and Clairton or maybe DayQuil. Thanks for your prayers & encouragement this week…it’s better than all the pills in this world.)

  1. I hope you feel better soon, Merrie! Moving is NOT fun...and I know. Just moved back to California from Oklahoma, and did it all in under 12 days, while I was sick. A horrible experience I hope to never have to repeat.

  2. Oh Merrie,

I pray that today has brought some relief from your suffering. Allergies have been crazy this year, but I'm sure the dust haven't helped at all. Take care and get some rest along the way.
