Vietnamese Football in the Data Era: Why Are We Still Groping in the Dark?
| Cross-checked: VuaBong.vn
One afternoon in early August, I opened an email containing a 4,000-word sports analysis with clear headings: Technical, Strategy, Driver Market. But every line repeated the same phrase: “N/A – Insufficient Information”. The document was empty. I closed my laptop, went to Thong Nhat Stadium to watch a match between TP.HCM FC and Hanoi FC, and suddenly realized that Vietnamese football is also full of “N/A”. Articles, live commentary, and coaches’ statements all lack verifiable data. We love football with our hearts, but we write about it using hollow clichés. The problem is not the absence of technology; it is that we have never considered data as the foundation of development. In this article, I argue that without data, Vietnamese football cannot compete at the continental level. We need to invest in data collection and publicly share statistics, starting from V.League clubs. This is not a matter of budget but of mindset. Build the system, and success will follow.
