When the analysis table is empty: Where should Vietnam’s sports data revolution begin?

A sports report with seven layers of analysis—technical, form, tournament, governance, rules and equipment, risk, and media narrative—can still end with only one phrase repeated: insufficient information, cannot assess. After seventeen years in sports data, I now believe such an empty report is not worthless. It tells us that the information chain is broken, and that guessing would be dishonest. In Vietnamese sports media, numbers are often used as decoration. A young player scores twice in ten minutes and is called a star, but no one checks the sample size. Coaches and journalists rarely say: we do not have enough data to rank this player. The real change should begin with that humble sentence. It will make headlines less exciting, but far more trustworthy. Vietnamese football does not need more loud commentary. It needs training centres to publish physical data, clubs to build analysis departments, and journalists to respect the difference between a fact, a probability and a feeling.
